May be. I just took a look at the given webpage. There seems to be a flaw on the cover. A pawn on e5 and one on e7. Well okay, perhaps Everyman just shuffles the pawns on their books. Fun for White obviously after 4. Nc4. If 4Qxe4+ 5. Ne3 followed by 6. Nc3, if 4 d5 5. Qh5+ followed by 6. Qxd5, and if 4f5 5. Nc3 and then if 5fxe4? 6. Nd5. #1 Feb 1, 2014. Hello, I've recently been thinking of the opening 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.b3!? , which seems to me interesing, and have found near nothing about it online. I suspect 3 Nf6 is blacks best Thanks for all the advice, I now see this opening is clearly inferior to others if black gets in an early d5. Most players that use this opening tend to go for it to avoid too much opening theory. It's pretty easy for black to equalize though, so I wouldn't recommend playing it. Also one of the key factors of this opening is the early f2-f4 pawn push, f3 is a bit of a weird move in my opinion. billwall. #8 Jan 27, 2011. The Scotch Game follows the most common first 2 moves in chess: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6. White moves his king's pawn up two spaces, and Black counters by moving his king's pawn two spaces as well. This is one of my favorite surprise openings I have used. I have had quite a bit of success with it. Does anybody else play this opening? Many, many years ago, I won a first place trophy in Jr. High Chess Club at Jefferson Junior High by almost exclusively using variations of Scholar's Mate. 1. a. b. c. d. e. f. g. h. 1. e4 1 e5 2. First, the French is not more complicated than, say, the Ruy -- it's just a different opening. Second, it's not like beginners won't be exposed to e4/e5 openings at all. For instance, I play 1.e4 and face 1e5 with some regularity. I've watched other people play e4/e5. I've played over master games with e4/e5.
